For existing S-DVI policyholders: identify your policy number and the action you need. IMPORTANT: New S-DVI applications are no longer accepted (closed January 1, 2023). For new coverage, apply for VALife (VA Form 29-0188) which replaced S-DVI.

Common mistakes
- ×Not knowing S-DVI is closed to new applicants - if you do not have an S-DVI policy already, apply for VALife instead.
- ×Surrendering S-DVI without considering VALife - if your S-DVI is in force, consider keeping it while also applying for VALife.
