Common mistakes
- ×Applying while receiving other VA education benefits - VRRAP cannot be used simultaneously with other VA education programs.
- ×Applying while receiving unemployment insurance - ineligible while receiving UI.
Section II - Training Program
Blocks 6-10High-demand occupation and approved training program
Identify the specific high-demand occupation you are retraining for and the VA-approved training program. VA maintains a list of approved VRRAP programs at va.gov. Not all programs qualify - the occupation must be on the Bureau of Labor Statistics high-demand list.
e.g., Cybersecurity analyst (BLS occupation code); CompTIA Security+ certification program at Phoenix College.
Common mistakes
- ×Enrolling in a program not on the VA-approved VRRAP list - VA will not pay for unapproved programs.
- ×Expecting VRRAP to cover a 4-year degree - VRRAP is specifically for shorter retraining programs.
