Leishmaniasis is rated by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs under DC 6301 of 38 CFR § 4.88b, DC 6301 across 3 severity tiers (40%+ -- Severe limitation or ankylosis / 20% -- Moderate limitation / 10% -- Mild limitation or painful motion). Parasitic disease spread by sandfly bites, endemic in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other deployment areas. Cutaneous form causes skin sores. Visceral form (kala-azar) affects internal organs and can be fatal. Common in OIF/OEF veterans.
